NEWS!  Bachbett Kennels, in conjunction with the La Crosse County Sheriff's Department, will be hosting two seminars for K9 teams in April, 2010.  The first will be a three day detector dog seminar, the second, a two day tracking and apprehension problem solving seminar.  Link here for complete information.  Please note that the .pdf file may load slowly!

For over 20 years, LaCrosse Dog Training was recognized as the leader in the training of companion and competition dogs in southwestern Wisconsin, working with up to 500 dogs annually, and having trained nearly 7,000 dogs before the business was sold in 2006. Many people are unaware of the wider scope of training and services that have been available through its founders and trainers, Cathy Hubert-Markos and George Markos of Bachbett Kennels, especially of their involvement for over 20 years in the importing and training of working dogs for competition, protection work and police service.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to ourselves and to Bachbett Kennels Police K-9 Services. We can help departments acquire working K-9s for their departments, and we can provide assistance to departments and handlers that currently have a canine or canines by offering specialized police K-9 seminars, and certification or re-certification.

SALE OF DOGS

When a new K-9 is desired by a department, we can help. Through our large network of working dog contacts in Europe, we are able to find and import excellent service dogs of several different breeds. Although we ourselves are known as Germn Boxer importers and breeders, we also have access to the finest German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois that Europe has to offer. We also have access to excellent, field line, Labrador Retrievers. All dogs are thoroughly tested by us before sale.

Unlike some programs, we do not buy a kennel full of dogs and then try to make one of them fit your department or hand them out "first come-first served". Instead, we determine what your department's specific needs are, then we procure a dog especially for you. We offer:

- Untrained K-9 prospects - Partially trained "green" dogs - Fully trained street ready dogs

Our standards for canine selection are the highest. We never buy so-called "military" or "police grade" dogs, like those offered by many other police dog vendors; we only buy high quality schutzhund dogs that have been tested for police work. In this way we eliminate the unstable and fearful dogs that are so commonly used in law enforcement.

YOUR DEPARTMENT CAN SAVE UP TO $10,000 WHEN ACQUIRING A K-9 FROM US

Our training program also differs from many others in another important way. We fully train the dog before your handler arrives for his or her handler coursework. This can mean a savings of 8 to 10 weeks time away from family and away from your department. In dollar amounts, this can save a department anywhere from $7,000 to $10,000.

When your department's dog has been trained by us to street readiness, the prospective handler will receive a two week (ten day) training period with us and his or her new K-9. Then they will go through certification testing to show they are ready to go to work on the street.

Our training center is located on 250 acres of land, which includes a training field, agility course, buildings, ponds, and over 100 acres of diverse tracking and trailing land. Our location is convenient; we are located about 20 minutes north of the city of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

ONGOING TRAINING, SEMINARS, AND CERTIFICATION TESTING

We offer ongoing training throughout the year, designed to meet the needs of each dog and its handler, in the areas of Narcotic Detection (and other detection work), all areas of Patrol Work, and/or Tracking and Trailing. Certification tests that meet or exceed national standards are offered annually. We also sponsor seminars with nationally and internationally recognized canine specialists.
